1. Wiring of the Receiver to the SigmaGate
Note: If you are going to add additional remotes to an already commissioned receiver you may have to erase the receiver settings and pair all the remotes to its receiver again.
If that is the case, please see article Troubleshooting Guide: Nova Helix Receiver and Remote Control with Sigma Gate (Generation 2)
Connections in the Sigma Gate
Connecting Power
- Open the Sigma gate panel.
- Connect 12-24DC (left side terminal) shown in red to 12v on the Sigma control board.
- Connect 12-24DC (right side terminal) shown in black to Ground on the Sigma control board.
Relay 1 (Auto-Close)
- Connect N/O1 to Front Open on the Sigma control board.
- Connect COM1 to Ground on the Sigma control board.
Relay 4 (Latched/Cleaning Mode)
Note: In a 3 gate store this will only be required on the receiver of the nominated gate.
- Connect N/O2 to Cleaning on the Sigma control board.
- Connect COM2 to Ground on the Sigma control board.
2. Mounting the Receiver
Note: mount the receiver on the gate's master side only.
Important: if metal is left bent, the glass will hit the receiver when mounted
- Ensure gate is closed - no glass behind fixing point to avoid damage during mounting receiver.
- Bend the metal plate as per image below vertically straight, image below:
- Take the receiver apart into 3 pieces.
- Mount receiver base to straightened metal plate (examples below) with small/short screw, to ensure not to damage glass.
- Proceed to complete the steps under "Setting Up the Relay" below. Once complete, return to Step 6.
- Once you have completed Setting Up the Relay, the receiver should be mounted as per the below.
Pairing Remotes
If you prefer watching a video of how to pair the remotes to the receiver and enable the latched function using the master remote, see video tutorial here:
Before you start:
- Each receiver will be switched by either button 1, 2 or 3.
- Button 4 on the remote is will be programmed to one receiver for latching/hold open (Cleaning Mode).
- Each gate will have its own receiver that can only be switched by the corresponding button:
Button 1 = Trigger auto-close on Gate 1
Button 3 = Trigger auto-close on Gate 2
Button 3 = Trigger auto-close on Gate 3
Button 4 = Trigger Latched/hold open/cleaning mode on ONE nominated gate.
Programming of Remotes
- Select one remote to program into all the receivers.
- On the first receiver place a jumper across the pins marked C1 (outlined in red below)
- Place a second jumper across the pin marked J1 (outlined in green below) and the one next to it.
- The receiver will now be in learning mode. With the red status led illuminated constantly (circled in white).
- Push the chosen button on the remote (you will press button 1 on the remote for gate 1, button 2 for gate 2 and button 3 for gate 3). The receiver status light will go out and beep once when the button is released. This indicates that the remote has be programmed to the receiver. Complete this step for all receivers using the respective button shown below.
Programming of Button 4 (Latching Open on a Nominated Gate)
- Move the first jumper to the C2 pins (red below) and ensure the second jumper is on J1 and the middle pin (green below). When the status led is on solid, press button 4 on the remote once and you will hear a beep to indicate button 4 is programmed.
- On your nominated gate, disconnect the power to the receiver for this gate (you can do this by removing the negative power wire from the receiver).
- Once the receiver is powered down (status led will go out – this can take up to 10 seconds), move the second jumper to J2 and the middle pin (green below).
- Once the jumpers are in place, power the receiver back up by reinserting the negative power cable and the receiver will beep three times. and hold down button 4 on the master remote for 3-5 seconds.
- This will send the receiver into “channel configuration” mode the LED will flash in 4 different sequences.
- It will flash once then twice then three times then four times it will then continue to repeat this cycle until the jumper is removed. You must remove the J2 jumper outlined below in green precisely after the ‘two flash’. If you miss it, simply wait for it to cycle through the sequence again. Once removed the status led will rapidly flash for 5 seconds and go out once the latching mode has been configured.
- This will now allow button 4 to latch the gate open/enter cleaning mode when pressed.
- Remove both jumpers and place on one pin only once finished.
- Test all remote controls and make sure they are triggering the right gate and the right function when pressed. Also make sure you return to step 6 of the “Mounting Receiver” chapter to mount the receiver properly.
